What you'll doThe Operating Room Control Desk Coordinator is responsible for managing and overseeing the logistical flow of surgical procedures within the operating room control room. This role ensures efficient communication, coordination of surgical schedules, and resource allocation to facilitate optimal surgical operations.
Essential Job Functions
- Scheduling and Coordination: Organize and maintain the surgical schedule, ensuring timely preparation and readiness of operating rooms.
- Establishes and maintains good communications with patients, families/visitors and hospital staff.
- Reports vital information to all levels of the healthcare team as needed as evidenced by feedback from healthcare team members and observed by supervisor.
- Conveys needed information to patients and visitors, measured by patient and co-worker feedback.
- Maintains good communication with co-workers for proper team functioning as evidenced by feedback from healthcare team members and observed by supervisor.
- Act as a liaison between surgeons, anesthesiologists, nursing staff, and other departments to ensure seamless operations.
- Provides clinical and service support to providers/healthcare team members and patients.
- Establishes and maintains an organized, functional work environment.
- Track surgical progress and timelines, adjusting schedules as needed to optimize patient flow.
- Answers telephone in a timely, courteous manner, and relays messages to appropriatepersonnel.
- Performs and/or supports unit based audits.
- Supports interdepartmental patient flow process.
- Address any issues that arise during surgeries, implementing solutions to maintain efficiency and patient safety.
- Support workflow processes for providers and healthcare team members.
- Performs patient service initiatives.
- Collaborates with Nurse Manager to support adherence to unit budget.
- Completes all unit specific and department competency requirements.
- Attends relevant educational and training programs.
- Communicates effectively with patients and visitors.
- Maintain the confidentiality of patient's information.
- Directing/transporting patients and visitors to the right location.
- Keep patients and family members updated in delays and schedule changes.
- Answer basic patient/family inquiries.
- Order medical, paper and dietary supplies as needed.
- Assist with monitoring and allocation of supplies, equipment, and personnel, ensuring availability for all surgical procedures.
- Coordinate with various departments to ensure proper flow of patients.
- Performs similar or related duties as requested or directed.
- Performs other duties as requested and observed by supervisor or manager.
- Prints daily OR schedule, patient stickers and name bands.
- Assists with the unit's admission processes for the pre surgical/pre procedural patient.
- Prepare charts for the next day cases.
What we need from youEducation:
- High School or GED, preferred
Experience:
- Minimum 1 year of Previous experience in a health-related position, knowledge of medical terminology and scheduling patients. Completion of 1 year of RN program can be substituted for experience, required
- Experience in an OR or Surgical scheduling setting, preferred
Licensure/Certifications:
- BLS or Heart Saver with AED must be obtained within 6 months from date of hire, required

Pay RangeSalary is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation based on industry standards. The above compensation range represents a good faith belief of the compensation range by Bassett Healthcare Network, and its entities and affiliates, at the time of this posting or advertisement.
Pay Range Minimum:USD $18.75/Hr.
Pay Range Maximum:USD $28.12/Hr.
