ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (COMPETENCIES):
• Open and timely communicate with supervisor, materials coordinator, and R and D administrator, as well as the scientific staff including scientists, engineers, technicians within R and D and other relative departments
• Clean and distribute glassware and relative containers
• Manage and perform testing using analytical equipment
• Conduct formulating experiment based on organic chemicals with metal powders on different scales
• Understand basic principle of formulation and functionalities of chemical ingredients in the formulation
• Monitor daily operation of the labs as applicable, including but not limited to maintenance of laboratory equipment, setting up and operating units in chemistry and test laboratories under the guidance of respective scientists/engineers
• Record data and conduct preliminary analysis from experiments conducted in laboratories / analysis equipment
• Assist in planning experiments, working closely with Scientists / Engineers, including assisting in analysis of results obtained from test experiment
• Perform Patent and literature research for new technology
• Set up units in the laboratory, monitor experiments under the guidance of scientists or engineers and gather relevant data for analysis
• May conduct routine maintenance of the lab itself, associated lab, waste management as well as complete standard procurement requirements
• Document procedures for texting of fixtures, assemblies and instrumentation
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned
REQUIREMENTS:
• Sophomore year (or greater) student pursuing an applied science Bachelor’s degree program in chemistry, chemical engineering or related field
• Possesses an understanding of chemical laboratory operations obtained through having worked at least 1 year in a chemical laboratory, including experience with handling hazardous materials
• Previous experience in formulating, and organic or polymer synthesis preferred, but not required
• Proficiency with Microsoft office-Word, Excel and Power Point for database management
• A team player able to develop effective working relationships, and who demonstrates sound and mature judgment in interpersonal communications
WAGE DISCLOSURE:
The salary range indicated in this posting represents the minimum and maximum of the range for the position. The actual range will vary based upon factors including, but not limited to, prior experience, knowledge, skill and education as they relate to the position’s qualifications, and internal equity.
$16.00 per hour - $21.00 per hour
*For students 60+ miles outside of Indium Corporation locations, a housing stipend can be provided to help offset the relocation cost
