JOB SUMMARY: The Analytical Laboratory Technician II is responsible for conducting chemical analysis of incoming samples for their elemental concentrations according to established procedures and regulations, ensuring quality standards are met and maintained.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (COMPETENCIES):

• Log and distribute incoming samples of materials

• Operate analytical instrumentation to analyze samples for their elemental concentrations

• Apply subject matter knowledge and experience to perform work under general supervision, seeking guidance as needed

• Perform analysis using advanced methods as needed

• Follow established procedures and regulations

• Prepare laboratory standards

• Guide, mentor, and train less experienced technicians

• Interpret data for entry into the lab data system

• Calibrate/standardize instruments when and where needed

• Maintain a clean, uncluttered work area

• Attend all required safety training and follow all safety policies and procedures

• Perform other duties or special projects as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required

• Associate degree in laboratory technology or bachelor’s degree in chemistry or science preferred

• 2 years of work-related experience is required; 4 years of work-related experience is preferred

• Demonstrated ability to train others

• Knowledge of safe handling of chemicals and laboratory equipment

• Willing and able to work overtime, including occasional Saturdays, as needed

• Knowledge of spectroscopic instrumentation is a plus

• Experience with wet chemistry techniques is a plus

• Good communication, computer, and organizational skills

• Basic math skills

• Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions

SHIFT/SITE:

Monday-Friday/ 1st shift: 7:00 am-3:30 pm/ 1676 Lincoln Ave, Utica, NY

WAGE DISCLOSURE:

The salary range indicated in this posting represents the minimum and maximum of the range for the position. The actual range will vary based upon factors including, but not limited to, prior experience, knowledge, skill, and education as they relate to the position’s qualifications, and internal equity.

$18.00 per hour - $23.00 per hour

($37,000 - $47,500 annually)
