Job Description:

The Department of Sport and Exercise Sciences at the State University of New York at Oneonta invites applications for six tenure track positions within the department to support an energetic and growing department. Expectations include, but are not limited to, teaching, research, student advisement, university service, and continuing professional development. The department is excited to welcome six new faculty as part of a cohort.

The Department of Sport and Exercise Sciences proudly offers majors in four academic programs: the Exercise Science Major, Sports Management Major, Athletic Coaching minor, and Sports Management minor, with a thriving community of over 400 students and a forward- looking approach to further curriculum development. As we continue to expand, the university is demonstrating its commitment to preparing a new generation of aspiring sport health professionals by adding six tenure track positions. Through practical assignments and discussions of current issues, students learn how sport management and exercise science impacts us on a local, regional, and global scale. The Sport Management and Exercise Science classes use a wide array of facilities, including enhanced classrooms, equipped with current teaching modalities that allow for strong interaction between faculty and students. Sport Management and Exercise Science classes may also use many of our campus fitness and recreation facilities. Duties include but are not limited to:

  • The ability to teach required courses in the department.
  • Advise students.
  • Participate in department service.
  • Have a research agenda.
  • Contribute to the positive ethos of the department.
  • Appreciate DEISJ (Diversity: Equity, Inclusion, and Social Justice) throughout courses and interactions with students.
  • Teach other courses to meet department needs.

Requirements:

Required Qualifications:  See individual position post for specific requirements.

Preferred:

  • Experience teaching undergraduates at the college level.
  • Willingness to develop courses building on the current curricula and future expansion.
  • Ability to establish a research program that mentors and engages undergraduate students.
  • Experience working with diverse populations and/or teaching pedagogies and/ or multicultural teaching experience.

Additional:

  • Commitment to providing academic advising.
  • A desire to work collaboratively across the department and institution.
  • An appreciation for DEISJ.
