Job Description:
The Department of Communication and Media at the State University of New York at Oneonta invites applications for a tenure-track position as an Assistant Professor of Communication and Media. This position is a joint appointment in the Department's Communication Studies and Media Studies programs. The Department seeks a teacher-scholar who has teaching experience and/or scholarly expertise in Digital Communication and Social Media. The appointment begins Fall 2024.
The Department of Communication and Media offers two-degree programs - Communication Studies and Media Studies with over 300 majors, 17 full-time faculty, and 10 part-time faculty members. The Department houses a community of thriving teachers, scholars, artists, and practitioners across both fields of study. Students working toward degrees in these programs take courses that combine scholarly analysis and practical application in an ever-changing communication and media landscape. Our students graduate with a greater appreciation and understanding of the vital roles communication and media play in social change while building essential communication and media skills that prepare them to engage in the world as participatory citizens. This position typically requires teaching 21 credit hours per academic year.
