Job Description:
The Office of Global Education at the State University of New York (SUNY) at Oneonta invites applications for the full-time, temporary position of Study Abroad Advisor. Starting in August 2025, the position is expected to continue until May 2026. Reporting to the Interim Director of Global Education, expectations include providing expertise, support, and advisement to students regarding all facets of study abroad and liaising with SUNY Oneonta international partner institutions.
The Office of Global Education (OGE) functions as a resource center for international students and study abroad opportunities. We are committed to providing the highest quality of guidance for non-immigrant visa holders authorized to engage in scholarly activities or academic studies, as well as for potential, current, and returned study abroad participants. The OGE also administers exchange agreements, faculty-led programs, and processes students for all SUNY-wide programs. Our dedicated resources provide guidance and orientations for participants while promoting study abroad programs as dynamic and life-changing experiences.

Duties include but are not limited to:
- Provide comprehensive marketing, advising, and processing for Study Abroad (SA) and Faculty-Led Program (FLP) participants for Oneonta and SUNY system-wide programs
- Serve as a plan administrator for enrollment and management of UHC international health insurance for all enrollees
- Conduct pre-departure orientation(s); collaborating with FLP leaders, Oneonta Auxiliary Services, Student Accounts, Financial Aid, Residential Community Life, Student Health Center, Oneonta Auxiliary Services, Business Services, Registrar's Office, Academic Advisement Center, and departments;
- Coordinate special events related to FLPs and study abroad, and assist with other office-wide events
- Communicate with overseas program administrators
- Co-supervise student employees who assist with general study abroad advising and administrative tasks
- Collect and share study abroad data with the SUNY Office of Global Affairs and other organizations
- Provide oversight of FLP processes and exhibit a high level of attention to detail on FLP contracts and budgets
- Serve on OGE's scholarship review committee
- Process supplemental study abroad transcripts and journal transfers
- Enter student information into Banner student information system as needed for SAP processing.
- Job includes occasional evening and weekend duties.

Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree
- Relevant experiences and/or studies in an international setting
- Demonstrated understanding of student services within the collegiate environment
- Proficiency in MS Office applications
- Valid driver's license.
Preferred:
- Master's degree in relevant field
- Experience working within an international collegiate office.
- Knowledge of overseas logistical processing, immigration guidelines, and global issues impacting campus internationalization
- Experience with Banner or other student information system
- Experience working with and serving diverse populations.
