The Director of Human Resources (HR) will be responsible for leading the people functions for Kelberman. The individual will partner with the Executive team and provide leadership and consultative services in all areas of Human Resources. This includes a focus on culture, employee engagement, DEI, leadership, coaching, development and retention. In addition, the Director of HR will be responsible for recruitment and hiring, compensation, benefits and leave management, HR compliance, employee relations, and HR administration. The Director of HR will operate as a strategic thought partner and ensure day-to-day execution of all HR tasks through the HR team. The Director of HR is responsible for ensuring adherence to all people related policies, practices, laws, regulations, and administration rulings of advisory and regulatory authorities.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Role responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Establish a positive work environment through collaborative team work and positive communication in alignment with Kelberman’s culture, values and mission.
Collaborate with Executive leadership to understand the organization’s long-term mission and goals; identify ways to support this mission through talent management.
Recognized as the in-house expert for Human Resources. Develops and executes strategy, policy and tactics for the function. Keeps current in his/her area of specialization, applicable regulations and in management trends.
Suggest and support initiatives to drive company culture, employee engagement, performance and talent management, and recruitment and retention efforts.
Research, develop, and implement competitive compensation, benefits, performance appraisal, and employee incentive programs
In partnership with the Executive team, creates and executes an internal communication strategy. Communicates ideas and goals clearly and is an effective listener.
Responsible for the oversight of all HR administrative tasks including job postings, onboarding, new hire orientation, employee credentialing, exit interviews and the maintenance of policies, practices and employee handbook.
Provides direction and support in all aspects of employee relations functions and programs designed to establish and maintain positive and effective employee relations through the uniform and equitable application of Kelberman policies and procedures.
Manages the HRIS (human resource information system) database and provides necessary reports for critical analyses of the HR function and the people resources of the organization.
Manage the HR team including providing coaching and feedback, interviewing, hiring, new employee onboarding, conducting performance evaluations, discipline, and termination.
Manages the budget and other financial measures of the HR department.
Ensure compliance with all pertinent government and agency regulations and operating standards.

At least six (6) years of professional human resource administration preferred or its equivalent through training, education and other experience. At least two (2) years of management experience preferred.
Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, organizational design, employee relations, diversity, performance management, and federal and state employment laws.
SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) credential or ability to obtain certification within one year of employment highly preferred.
Must have a valid New York State Driver’s License travel is required.
This position will not have regular and substantial unsupervised or unrestricted physical contact with individuals receiving services and is not required by law to be fingerprinted for a criminal history record check under OPWDD (Office for People with Developmental Disabilities) and in coordination with the regulations of the NYS JC.
An equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed above may be substituted for the above education and experience requirements.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Job related tasks may involve possible exposure to blood, body fluids, tissue or spills or splashes from these substances. May have exposure to unpredictable individuals and situations when working at Kelberman sites.

The employee frequently is required to stand, walk and sit. Must be able remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time.
Must be able to bend, twist, reach with fingers and arms.
Must have the ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
