Here’s the Gist:
Wolfspeed is seeking an enthusiastic and hands-on engineer with exceptional organizational, leadership, and problem-solving skills, to join our growing team as a Factory Automation Engineer. You will play a role in the setup, implementation and qualification of the fully automated material handling solution in Wolfspeed’s State of the art 200mm Silicon Carbide Wafer Manufacturing Center. This will include training, setup, and ongoing operations of the OHT and Load ports within the Automation system. The role will be based out of our new fully automated factory in Siler City, NC. Initially the role will be based out of Wolfspeed’s facility in Durham, NC.
The Day-to-Day:
Play a lead role in the design, setup and implementation of the fully automated material handling solution in Wolfspeed’s new 24/7 state of the art 200mm Silicon Carbide Wafer Manufacturing Center
Act as a subject matter expert for factory automation tasks, connecting manufacturing equipment to the material handling systems OHT and Load ports within the manufacturing facility
Communicate with internal clients about automation requirements
Identify opportunities to increase efficiency with automation and within the Automation department
Create a connection between information inputs, controllers and outputs. Connecting automation to MES, MCS and automation equipment specific controllers
Develop tests and simulations to ensure systems work as intended.
Establish monitoring and QA process capturing critical KPI’s
Investigate and correct defects or errors in the technology
Develop maintenance standards and documentation. Set up scheduling for preventative maintenance tasks
Understand and drive technical aspects including design and maintenance oversight, FAB level automation hardware and software support and implementation
This Job is Right for You if You Have (Minimum Requirements):
BS degree from a four-year college/university in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field
2 plus years prior work experience in a high-volume automated manufacturing facility.
Experience working with OHT and load ports in semi-conductor manufacturing or similar fully automated manufacturing environment
High motivation with continuous drive for improvement experience leading continuous improvement projects
Proven track record for Safety and continually improving safe work environment
Experience with databases and data analysis tools (SQL, Access, Excel, VBA, JMP)
Excellent listening and interpersonal skills
Highly Preferred Requirements
3 to 6 years, experience in equipment and process automation within a Semi-Conductor manufacturing facility using commercial OHT, MES, MCS and dispatching/scheduling solutions
200mm and 300mm Semi-Conductor manufacturing experience with a focus in automation
Direct experience designing, building, deploying and supporting automation and execution systems
Experience in supporting highly automated new manufacturing facility startups, commissioning and support
Developing training, standardized work practices and scheduling system maintenance
Management of small to medium size capital projects
Ability to work independently and in teams on multiple, simultaneous projects
Excellent knowledge in factory physics and operations research
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Experience working with equipment vendors
Excellent observational skills
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

This role requires the lawful ability to access technical data, information, and areas controlled by United States export control laws and regulations. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship by the Company. Travel of less than 10%.
