The Day-to-Day:
Contribute to the development, enhancement, and optimization of Silicon Carbide (SiC) crystal and wafer processing.
Transfer Silicon Carbide (SiC) crystal and wafer processing steps to the new John Palmour Manufacturing Center for Silicon Carbide (SiC) in Siler City, NC, and then support the qualification of those processes at that site to meet entitlement goals.
Work as a team collaborator and individual contributor at the start while making a plan to build, coach, and lead a diverse team of supporting Process Engineers and Technicians.
Initiate, organize, and manage projects that positively impact costs and product yields while maintaining both near and long-term roadmaps.
Apply good engineering practices to drive innovation, continuous improvement, and manufacturability in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Work with R&D team to define, qualify, and transition processes from research through development and production (NTI/NPI) and achieve “1st time right” success.
Establish procedures and qualification plans for bringing processes and tools online, safely and on-schedule.
Own investigation, troubleshooting, and improvement of equipment impact on safety, quality, and cost of SiC substrate production processes.
Define control parameters, develop and maintain monitoring systems to rapidly detect and act upon process variations.
Define and refine methods to increase process repeatability and control to achieve higher yields, lower costs, higher flexibility, lower variation, and a safe work environment.
Provide data analysis and understanding of the Silicon Carbide manufacturing using databases and data analysis tools.
This Job is Right for You if You Have:
This position requires the lawful ability to access technical data, information, and areas controlled by United States export control laws and regulations.
Bachelor’s, Master’s Degree, or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Engineering or Materials Science.
5 years Engineering experience in a manufacturing environment troubleshooting equipment, material, or process impact on product quality and yield.
Previous management experience leading both exempt and non-exempt personnel through process transfer, qualification, and scale-up activities.
Strong organizational and planning abilities, independent thinking, attention to detail, and excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Willing to work in non-cleanroom type environment.
High energy, self-motivated attitude with strong communication skills and ability to interface effectively with coworkers of different backgrounds at every level of the company.
Preferred Qualifications:
Semiconductor processing experience (single-crystal growth, crystal processing, wafer processing)
Familiarity with JMP, Tableau, or similar software package.
Working knowledge and experience of applied statistics (SPC/DOE) and structured problem-solving methods such as 8D, 5 whys, and DMAIC in a manufacturing environment.
Ability to work on several projects simultaneously and demonstrated success in complete process ownership within a 24x7 manufacturing environment
Excellent overall computer and analytical skills
