Here’s the Gist:
Wolfspeed is seeking a Fire & Life Safety Systems Engineer to join the facilities team at our new location in Siler City, NC – the world’s largest silicon carbide materials factory. This person must have working knowledge of Fire Detection and Suppression, and Toxic Gas Monitoring Systems to achieve code compliance, deploy industry best practices, and help keep colleagues safe. The Fire & Life Safety Engineer will monitor and maintain systems supporting the use of high purity gases, chemicals, and other hazardous process materials in a semiconductor manufacturing environment.
The Day-to-Day
Evaluates and enhances fire, life safety and TGM systems to ensure readiness and compliance.
Serves as the technical expert for fire and life safety issues, leads commissioning, troubleshooting and risk assessments.
Develops and maintains site life safety system maintenance records, inspection reports and procedures. Provides direction to maintenance staff during preventative maintenance activities.
Coordinates with vendors as needed to perform preventive maintenance on life safety equipment.
Assists local officials with routine testing of fire and life safety systems. Ensures the life safety system is in compliance with all local and federal regulations and NFPA codes.
This Job is Right for You if You Have (Minimum Requirements):
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, engineering technology, or related discipline
Relevant industry certifications from NFPA, NICET, or equivalent
Experience maintaining life safety systems in a semiconductor manufacturing environment is preferred
Experience in facility/plant engineering and fire life safety equipment (FAS, FPS, HPM, TGM, Leak Detection)
Knowledge & application of Codes and Standards, as they pertain to Life Safety NFPA 1 Fire Code: NFPA 70 (NEC) and electrical design requirements / NFPA 72 Fire Alarm and Signaling Code: NFPA 101 Life Safety Code, NFPA 400 Hazardous Materials Code, ICC, IBC and IFC.
