Here’s the Gist:
Wolfspeed is seeking an enthusiastic and hands-on engineering manager with exceptional organizational, leadership, problem solving, and project management skills to join our growing team as a Product Engineering/Yield Manager. You will lead a team of Product Engineers responsible for core products running at Wolfspeed’s new 200mm Silicon Carbide Wafer Manufacturing Center in Siler City, NC. You will also be owning RMA activities for internal customers at our 200mm Silicon Carbide Device Manufacturing Fab in NY, as well as external customers. This will include working with R&D, existing Materials Product Engineering teams, the NPI/NTI/Transfer team and Operations to ensure lessons learned are being implemented and robust engineering practices are being applied.
The Day-to-Day:
Build, coach, and lead a diverse team of Process Engineers and Technicians.
Initiate, organize, and manage projects that positively impact costs and product yields while maintaining both near and long-term roadmaps.
Partner with the existing PE/Yield team to support new products and technologies from "Concept to Qual" ensuring standards are followed including process requirements, new part checklists, BOM details, process control plans, test plans, etc.
Closely monitor and analyze available statistical process control (SPC), yield, and parametric data to formulate engineering reports and actions plan for review with project teams and senior management
Drive root cause investigations of performance or yield signals to maximize product quality, minimize manufacturing cycle time, and ensure first pass qualification success for each program
Work closely with BU and R&D teams to develop and maintain manufacturing NPI, NTI, and process transfer roadmaps and actively negotiate schedules to align customer schedule needs with manufacturing resources
Effectively communicate NPI and NTI material status, issues, and successes with departmental stakeholders to ensure team alignment of priorities and drive performance against schedule
Apply good engineering practices to drive innovation and continuous improvement in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Provide engineering/technical direction and design support to project teams
This Job is Right for You if You Have (Minimum Qualifications):
B.S. in an Engineering or related discipline and 7+ years semiconductor manufacturing experience OR M.S. in Engineering or related discipline and 5+ years semiconductor manufacturing experience
Related process/product development, or process integration experience in a semiconductor environment; demonstrated experience with an understanding of semiconductor wafer fabrication, assembly, and test methods
Experience with database queries and statistical data analysis using software packages such as JMP or Spotfire
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to interface with people of different backgrounds at every level of the organization
Self-starter with a strong sense of ownership, capable of driving tasks with minimal supervision (but recognizing when to seek help), desire to learn, and thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic manufacturing environment
Experience recruiting, training, developing, and retaining a team of engineers
Highly Preferred Qualifications:
7+ years work experience as a Product, Process, Development, or Integration Engineer in a semiconductor environment; previous Product Engineering experience preferred
Demonstrated experience leading and growing teams
Project management experience
Exposure to semiconductor manufacturing and Epi processes
Advanced data query scripting abilities or programming experience with SQL, JMP, MS Access, or similar database and analysis software
Strong track record of effective problem-solving, good engineering judgement, and decision-making skills
This role may require additional duties and/or assignments as designated by management.
