Here’s the Gist:

Wolfspeed is seeking a Global Facilities Controls/Automation Design Engineering Sr. Manager to join the Global Facilities Team (GFET). This person will be responsible for providing high quality engineering services and specifications for the planning, design, construction, start-up and commissioning of discipline specific Facilities systems in support of semiconductor device and materials manufacturing across the Wolfspeed global manufacturing network. They will oversee a team of engineers who develop the design standards for the extremely low voltage (ELV) systems associated with production support, mechanical and process systems, and life safety systems such as Wonderware, TGMS, etc. , and also analyze production tool service inputs and create production tool utility matrices for the materials and device fab operations at Wolfspeed. This position will also be responsible for the oversight of the physical layout of equipment, protection and control logic, and wiring diagrams. This position will be responsible for specification and procurement of engineered equipment, as well as development of design scope and cost estimates. This person in this job must have working knowledge of Allen-Bradley and Siemens PLC programming/hardware troubleshooting, as well as Wonderware System Platform/Historian, Ignition, and the necessary network architecture to support these types of systems.

The Day-to-Day:

  • Lead project design and scope development, documentation, change control review, vendor selection, project tendering, and discipline project design for safety as the team discipline lead.
  • Update system design and standards documentation for safe operations and maintenance based on prior system designs, lessons learnt, and approved new technologies and innovations.
  • Provide Wolfspeed specifications and standards to design firms and provide supervision and coordination of consultant resources required.
  • Provide consultation and support to Operations, Maintenance, and Manufacturing as technical discipline subject matter expert.
  • Lead discipline joint engineering team meetings with Network Engineering to share ideas, BKMs, lessons learnt, and provide updates and collection inputs on new designs, project statues, innovations, etc.
  • Partner with Network Engineers to analyze existing network system designs to identify improvements that will result in better performance, efficiency gains, reduced maintenance, and cost savings.
  • Support sites with problem analysis using standard tools and methodologies as requested.
  • Provide leadership, mentoring and development of a high-performance engineering team.

This Job is Right for You if You Have (Minimum Requirements):

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electronics, Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering required, Master’s Degree desired.
  • Minimum 10-year experience in controls engineering and architecture with a focus on design and construction of semiconductor or similar facilities and systems.
  • Familiar with Allen-Bradley/Siemens PLC Programming and Hardware and Wonderware System Platform/Historian or Ignition experience.
  • Familiar with semiconductor process tools operations, inputs, diversity and utilization factors.
  • Ability to prioritize and schedule workload and work on multiple tasks concurrently.
  • Ability to travel domestically and/or internationally up to 50% of the time
