Join the pack! Wolfspeed’s Materials Expansion team is seeking a Production Buyer/Planner in the Materials expansion procurement group. The ideal candidate will possess previous hands-on experience in semiconductor processing and related equipment. This position will support the Materials Development Engineering Group’s machine/project shops for their procurement and project management needs.
This posting is for a position that will directly support operations at the John Palmour Manufacturing Center for Silicon Carbide, our expansion site in Siler City, NC. The person in this role will report in-person to train at our Durham, NC headquarters initially until the new site is ready.
The Day-to-Day
- Identifying, specifying and ordering materials, device and electromechanical components, machine tools and their support elements, for the various machining and tool projects flowing through the shops.
- Tracking and maintaining project budgets and will act as the external facing purchasing resource to the vendors whose materials, equipment and tools support the project needs.
- Maintain inventories, track projects and consumables, and develop a wide range of support vendors in order to minimize delivery times, as well as identifying alternative components and tooling sources to satisfy project needs.
- Establish detailed bill of materials (BOM) documents for a given project and/or tool build, such that when an additional tool of that type needs to be fabricated you will be able to quickly order all needed components from your assembled BOM.
- Help establish inventory practices in order to track inventories and establish automated procedures to know when and in what volume to order consumables and critical long lead time components.
- Track purchases from identification, through requisition, approvals, purchase order, delivery, and final on-site destination.
This Job is Right for You If You Have:
- An Associates degree.
- Experience in a high-volume semiconductor environment with hands-on process and equipment know-how, in addition to demonstrated experience with production planning to support your internal Wolfspeed customer.
- Experience with SAP Ariba.
- Being able to maintain budgets, determine burn rates, and pull project data from a wide range of sources in order to track a project’s progress and give a timely heads-up if projects are deviating from plan.
- Strong interpersonal skills to act with a range of people from executives to end-user are desired.
- Proficient with MS Office suite.
- Advanced skills with MS Excel – Power BI is a plus.
- Strong sense of urgency and attention to detail.
- Excellent organization, communications and follow-up skills.
- An energetic, analytical individual who can service a dynamic and exciting team.
