Here’s the Gist:
Wolfspeed is looking for a resourceful, hands-on, problem solving Yield Engineer with the capacity to quickly grasp and resolve a wide range of technical challenges. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast paced, deadline-oriented atmosphere and be capable and willing to work in a team of scientists, engineers and technicians. The candidate will be responsible for developing, monitoring, and characterization of equipment, inputs, and process impact to quality, yield, and cost of the SiC and GaN Epi production process.
The Day-to-Day:
- Data driven process decision making based on timely and thorough data analysis
- Process improvement through designed experimentation
- Yield improvement through identification and elimination of yield limiters
- Participate in RMA, MRB, and PCRB activities to ensure key risks are mitigated throughout the entire process and to ensure risks are considered in the improvement and standardization processes.
- Lead constructive problem solving
- Define control parameters, develop and maintain monitoring systems to rapidly detect and act upon process variations
- Document, summarize and report on project status to key stakeholders, communicating deliverable progress and product specific risks.
- Initiate, manage, and participate in projects to improve Epi quality and yield to exceed customer expectations.
- Participate in the development of process FMEA and control plans for new products.
- Provide data analysis and statistical analysis to ensure yield, reliability and cost goals meets product requirements.
- Apply good engineering practices to achieve continuous improvement.
- Work with R&D team to define, qualify, and transition processes from research through development and production
- Define, train, qualify, and lead process changes with salaried and hourly staff to insure repeatability, reproducibility, and control
- Work with Engineering and R&D personnel to improve product quality, increase yield, and decrease cost, and achieve customer satisfaction
This Job is Right for You if You Have:
Minimum Requirements
- BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or Chemical Engineering
- Willingness to work supporting 24x7 manufacturing where off-hours on-call support may be required
- Must be a US Citizen or Green Card holder
- Must have a “Whatever it takes” attitude
- 5 years work experience as an engineer in a manufacturing environment troubleshooting equipment, material, or process impact on product quality and yield.
- High energy, self-motivated attitude with strong communication skills and ability to interface effectively with coworkers of different backgrounds at every level of the company
- Strong organizational and planning abilities, independent thinking, attention to detail, and excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work on several projects simultaneously and demonstrated success in complete process ownership within a 24x7 manufacturing environment
Preferred Skills
- Semiconductor manufacturing experience
- Epitaxy or thin film experience
- JMP software experience
- Experience with VB.NET programming and SQL
- Statistical process control experience in a manufacturing environment
