Here’s the Gist:
Wolfspeed is seeking a Fire & Life Safety Area Manager to join the facilities team at our new location in Siler City, NC – the world’s largest silicon carbide materials factory. You'll lead by promoting a safety and quality mindset to your teams through continuous improvement of processes, policies, and procedures. You'll provide daily assistance to your team to achieve code compliance, deploy industry best practices, and help keep colleagues safe.
Manages and directs the daily activities of fire and life safety systems engineers and technicians.
Recruits, selects, manages, coaches, and motivates staff; provides guidance and direction on problems and issues; delegates work assignments.
Works with project teams to start-up and commission facilities systems and equipment.
Evaluates and enhances fire, life safety and TGM systems to ensure readiness and compliance.
Serves as the technical expert for fire and life safety issues, leads commissioning, troubleshooting and risk assessments.
Develops and maintains site life safety system maintenance records, inspection reports and procedures. Provides direction to maintenance staff during preventative maintenance activities.
Coordinates with vendors as needed to perform preventive maintenance on life safety equipment.
Assists local officials with routine testing of fire and life safety systems. Ensures the life safety systems follow all local and federal regulations and NFPA codes.
This Job is Right for You if You Have (Minimum Requirements):
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related discipline required.
8+ years of engineering or fire and life safety experience in a semiconductor or critical facilities environment with a history of progressive roles in technical and people leadership.
Relevant industry certifications from NFPA, NICET, or equivalent.
Experience in facility/plant engineering and fire life safety equipment (FAS, FPS, HPM, TGM, Leak Detection).
Knowledge & application of Codes and Standards, as they pertain to Life Safety NFPA 1 Fire Code: NFPA 70 (NEC) and electrical design requirements / NFPA 72 Fire Alarm and Signaling Code: NFPA 101 Life Safety Code, NFPA 400 Hazardous Materials Code, ICC, IBC and IFC.
Experience collaborating and establishing meaningful relationships with local AHJ.
