Here is the Gist:
As a member of the Factory Automation Equipment team, the person in this role will work safely, have a proven safe working record of accomplishment and always be looking to improve safety.
The Factory Automation Equipment technician will be responsible for performing equipment startup, carrying out engineering modifications and upgrades, troubleshooting, acceptance testing, scheduled maintenance, unscheduled maintenance, and sustaining automation equipment throughout the factory. This role will interact directly with operations, process engineering, equipment engineering, vendor field service engineers and other groups to meet Wolfspeed’s business goals.
Successful candidates will have strong team and communication skills. Candidates working in this area must exhibit a drive for continuous improvement. This role will be responsible for a diverse mixture of automated equipment.
This position will directly support operations at the John Palmour Manufacturing Center for Silicon Carbide, our expansion site in Siler City, NC. The person in this role will train at our Durham, NC headquarters initially and must be able to travel to our Mohawk Valley manufacturing site in Upstate NY for training of up to 4 to 6 weeks.
Once at the Siler City, NC location the person in this position will work 12-hour shifts on a compressed work week, there are both Day and Night shifts available.
The Day to Day:
Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities on assigned equipment
Perform mechanical and electrical troubleshooting to determine problems in electro-mechanical systems
Use of factory systems to document all work performed.
Dismantle, adjusts, repairs and assembles equipment according to layout plans, blueprints, operating or repair manuals, rough sketches or drawings
Use test and diagnostic equipment to perform equipment maintenance such as digital multimeter and oscilloscope.
Flexibility for technical support, capable of working on a variety of automated equipment and tasks.
This Job is Right for You if You Have:
Proven safety record, always following safe work practices
Strong hands-on based mechanical aptitude, using common hand and power tools with attention to safety and details.
Ability to read and interpret instructions, schematics, and maintenance manuals.
Intermediate to expert knowledge of electrical systems or drive to develop to skill level.
Ability and desire to learn new fields of discipline
Experience with MS Office Suite
Possess a strong work ethic and ability to manage time
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
Associate degree focused on Automation, Mechatronics, Electronics, Electromechanical, Engineering Technology, Semi-Conductor, Automotive and or Military Equivalent.
2 plus years of experience working in a manufacturing environment performing routine maintenance activities on manufacturing equipment.
Experience with AMHS systems in a high-volume semi-conductor fabrication facility, with specific expertise working with Murata automation equipment.
Semi-conductor wafer sorter and stocker experience.
Experience working on AGV systems.
Experience with automated systems.
Knowledge of vacuum and gas delivery systems.
Experienced with documentation development and training.
Experience with 5S and Lean Manufacturing
This role may require additional duties and/or assignments as designated by leadership.
