Here’s the Gist:
Wolfspeed is seeking a Life Safety Systems Technician to join the facilities team at our new location in Siler City, NC – the world’s largest silicon carbide materials factory. In this role you will report to the Fire & Life Safety Systems Area Manager and be responsible for supporting the maintenance, repairs, calibration, and operations of the FA/FP and TGM systems.
The Day-to-Day
Perform required inspections and maintenance of fixed TGMS components.
Assist with life safety testing of all tools connected and interlocked to TGMS
Troubleshooting and respond to system or gas detector faults
Support all fire alarm and fire protection inspections and testing
Develop and maintain fire alarm system network, troubles and supervisory log with root causes and corrective actions
Complete maintenance, device repairs and service that include: Smokes, VESDA, NAC Panels, A/Vs, Pull Stations, Fire Extinguishers, Sprinkler systems, PIVs, Hydrants, etc.
Support other life safety systems including continuous gas detection devices and network
This Job is Right for You if You Have (Minimum Requirements)
High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
2 years’ experience as fire system technician required with detailed understanding of Fire Protection and Fire Alarm systems that include: VESDA, Hazard Fire Suppression Systems, Sprinkler Systems (Wet, Dry, Pre-Action, Deluge), Fire Alarm, or Detection Devices (Smokes, Heats, Duct), schooling for NICET level 1 or a Fire Alarm License can count towards years of experience.
Professional experience and training in instrumentation and controls preferred.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.)
Knowledge of local and national codes that include: International Fire Code, NFPA 10, 13, 25, 72 and OSHA
Must be able to push, pull, lift 25 lbs regularly, and up to 50 lbs when assisted
Must be comfortable with heights, working on ladders or lifts or in confined spaces
