Here’s the Gist:
Wolfspeed is seeking a Toxic Gas Monitoring Systems Technician to join the facilities team at our new location in Siler City, NC – the world’s largest silicon carbide materials factory. In this role you will report to the Fire & Life Safety Systems Area Manager and be responsible for supporting the maintenance, repairs, calibration, and operations of the TGM systems.
The Day-to-Day
- Support all life safety gas detection inspections, testing, service, repairs and maintenance
- Support the compliance of the toxic gas monitoring (TGM) system in accordance with local and federal regulations and NFPA codes
- Support LSS contractors for system upgrades, improvements and repairs as needed
- Support tool and equipment gas detection installations, relocations, and/or demolitions
- Assist in the maintenance of TGMS system network, troubles and alarm log with root causes and corrective actions
- With instruction perform maintenance, device repairs and service that include sensor replacements, sensor calibration, device troubleshooting, network service, SCADA & PLC programming
- Support of other life safety systems including fire alarm and fire protection equipment
This Job is Right for You if You Have (Minimum Requirements)
- High School Diploma, GED, and/or technical school training
- 2- 4 years’ experience in low voltage electronics, PLCs, sensors, and/or Life Safety equipment including Fire Protection and Fire Alarm systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.)
- Understanding of code requirements with a willingness to learn local and national codes that include International Fire Code, NFPA and OSHA
- Must be able to push, pull, lift 25 lbs. regularly, and up to 50 lbs. when assisted
- Must be comfortable with standing, sitting, kneeling, heights, working on ladders or lifts or in confined spaces
