The Metrology Process and Equipment Engineering Manager is responsible for leading the wafer fabrication (wafer fab) metrology process and equipment engineering team. This role involves sustaining and developing in-line metrology processes and equipment to ensure the delivery of capable and reliable process control data, enabling process teams to enhance delivery, yield, cost, and quality. The manager will oversee the site’s wafer fab gauge tool calibration process, ensuring compliance with customer and IATF standards. A strong emphasis will be placed on continuous improvement in cycle time and capacity, as well as gauge tool matching and capability. The successful candidate will provide strategic guidance on capability and tooling strategies while fostering team development through teaching, coaching, and mentoring, aspiring to cultivate a world-class metrology team within the SiC wafer fab at Mohawk Valley Fab.
The Day-to-Day
Provide leadership, guidance, and prioritization for a team of engineers and technicians, driving continuous improvements to meet Mohawk Valley Fab’s performance objectives.
Analyze metrology tool health metrics to minimize measurement errors while maximizing repeatability and reproducibility.
Implement Statistical Process Control (SPC) principles and standards to facilitate early detection of errors and tool drift.
Conduct thorough postmortem analyses of over-24-hour tool downtime, wafer scrap incidents, and near misses to identify root causes and preventative measures.
Collaborate cross-functionally with Process, Integration, Operations, and New Product Introduction (NPI) teams to support the ramp-up of the Mohawk Valley Fab.
Lead initiatives to achieve best-in-class performance in yield, availability, and quality; analyze and present relevant technical data to peers and senior leadership.
This Job is Right for You if You Have (Minimum Requirements):
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
A minimum of 3 years of direct experience managing an engineering team in a semiconductor environment.
Proven experience in metrology process and equipment ownership.
This role may require additional duties and/or assignments as designated by management.
The posted salary range is what Wolfspeed reasonably expects to pay for this position. Actual pay for a hired applicant will be determined based on the individual’s job-relevant qualifications, experience, and other determinative factors. In the event it is determined that a different job level upon hire is warranted then that range will be communicated to the hired applicant as soon as reasonably practicable.
