Position Summary
As a Staff/Field Applications Engineer, the incumbent will be responsible for pre- and post-sales technical support for Automotive, Industrial & Energy Customers for Wolfspeed’s Silicon Carbide (SiC) power devices. A successful candidate will have a strong understanding of the sales process and experience directly supporting customers with technical product specifications, product selection, system design, reliability, quality and manufacturing process. Target customers are focused on e-Powertrain for EV applications like On-Board Charger, On-Board DC/DC, Powertrain System and Power Module. This position requires interaction with customers at all levels of system design/development, components, quality engineering, procurement and general management.
Responsibilities:
- Customer Engagement & Design Wins: Maximize design win pipeline, support customer design efforts, and ensure successful integration of SiC components into customer products.
- Technical Support: Provide pre- and post-sales technical assistance via presentations, demos, remote/on-site support, and timely resolution of technical inquiries.
- Product Launch & Training: Support new product introductions and deliver training for customers, sales teams, and channel partners.
- Reference Design Development: Design and distribute demonstration platforms for target applications.
- Market Feedback & Evangelism: Gather customer requirements for product enhancements and promote SiC technology within the region.
- Commercial Activities: Contribute to pricing strategies, partnership negotiations, and programs to win business.
- Industry Representation: Present at technical seminars, tradeshows, and distributor training sessions.
- Customer Success Ownership: Act as liaison between customers and engineering teams to ensure technical and business success.
Minimum Requirements:
- Education: BS Degree in Electrical Engineering
- Experience: 5+ years of hands-on and theoretical experience with power systems and devices
- Technical Skills: Field testing experience; strong understanding of power electronics
- Communication: Fluency in written and spoken English; excellent customer presentation skills
- Personal Attributes: Passion for SiC Power Devices
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced knowledge in Electrical Engineering
- Experience in Automotive power applications
- Familiarity with motor drive, on-board charger (OBC), and power design
- Proven ability to work with sales teams to secure new power design wins
- Aggressive, results-driven approach with a focus on achieving customer success
Note: Working location is subject to the location of the candidate. Incumbent located in Tokyo is expected to work in our Tokyo office
