Here’s the Gist:
Wolfspeed is seeking a Facilities Electrical Technician to join the Facilities Maintenance Team at our new location in Siler City, NC – the world’s largest silicon carbide materials factory. This position possesses a high-level skill set in industrial electrical systems. The position allows a candidate to work on all medium voltage electrical systems in a semiconductor facility. The skill level for this position requires an individual to work independently on complicated equipment and systems with minimal instruction and direction. This position is responsible for the preventive, predictive, corrective maintenance and repairs of the electrical systems of associated facilities equipment.
This position may work a compressed work schedule of 12 hour shifts alternating 3 and 4 days per week.
The Day-to-Day:
Lighting maintenance- lamps, ballasts, fixture replacement etc.
Wiring motors
Racking in/out breakers in switchgears
Troubleshooting electrical issues related to VFD’s, MCC’s, motors, and controls
Replace devices such as breakers, switches, and receptacles.
Proficiency with computers and software to include Microsoft Office suite of products and SCADA.
This Job is Right for You if You Have (Minimum Requirements):
An associate’s degree, preferably in relevant technical field or equivalent civilian and/or military experience and training. Current state license / certification is preferred.
5-7 years of experience as an electrical technician performing electrical repairs, upgrades, preventative maintenance tasks, troubleshooting, installation on HVAC/R, mechanical devices, facility electrical infrastructure, drives, PLCs in a manufacturing environment.
Ability to read electrical schematics
Experience with AC/DC motors
Experience with AC/DC current 120VAC to 480V
Familiar with medium voltage up to 34,500 VAC.
Familiarity of performing calibrations and validations of process instrumentation and sensors.
Familiar with variable frequency drives (VFDs) and complex HVAC controls and PLC troubleshooting.
Ability to organize work and meet deadlines.
Strong verbal and written communication skills; write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to perform trade-related mathematical functions in various units of measure.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, standard operating procedures, sequence of operations and ISO/GMP related documentation.
Knowledge of chillers, AHUs, cooling towers, compressors, wastewater systems, is a plus but not a requirement.
Install, maintain and repair electrical control, wiring, and lighting systems.
Perform general electrical maintenance.
Inspect transformers and circuit breakers and other electrical components.
Troubleshoot electrical issues using appropriate testing devices.
Repair and replace equipment, electrical wiring, or fixtures.
Familiarity with the National Electrical Code, OSAH, NFPA110, state and local building regulations is a plus.
Circuit breaker corrective maintenance.
Good knowledge of heating and air conditioning systems.

Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled environment
Ability to work in repetitive motions and pressure involving fingers, hands, and wrists
The work requires some physical exertion such as long periods of standing or walking over hard concrete surface
Exposure to recurring bending, crouching, stooping, kneeling, sitting, climbing, stretching, or similar activities
