The primary focus of this position is the direct development and management of strategic end-customers (OEMs), maximizing revenue growth in applications such as renewable energy, industrial motor drives, EV charging infrastructure, and power supplies.

The successful candidate will excel in the total direct selling process—from lead generation and technical consultation to closing complex deals. You will act as the primary point of contact for key accounts, supporting them with product specifications, selection, reliability data, and manufacturing best practices.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Account Management & Revenue Growth

  • Meet and exceed assigned revenue targets by driving the adoption of Wolfspeed SiC products within the Japanese I&E market.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive territorial and account plans for direct end-customers, consistent with global business unit strategies.
  • Build and maintain a healthy sales pipeline to deliver on both short-term quotas and long-term strategic growth goals.
  • Lead price negotiations, manage the quotation process, and oversee general terms and conditions for direct accounts.

Business Development in Industrial & Energy

  • Identify and secure new business opportunities in key I&E verticals, including Solar/Storage, Industrial Motor Drives, EV Charging (Infrastructure side), and Server Power Supplies.
  • Expand the customer base by prospecting new OEMs and identifying market leaders in emerging power applications.
  • Articulate the Wolfspeed Value Proposition effectively to C-level executives and technical decision-makers, highlighting efficiency and system-level benefits.

Technical Sales & Collaboration

  • Provide first-level technical support to customers, quickly assessing engineering needs and leveraging Wolfspeed’s internal Applications Engineering and scientific resources to solve complex design challenges.
  • Gather and relay competitive market intelligence to management to influence product marketing and development roadmaps specific to the I&E sector.
  • Propose new product opportunities based on specific customer needs and competitive intensity to accelerate design wins.

Relationship Management

  • Establish and nurture strong, long-term relationships with R&D, Procurement, and Executive Management teams within customer organizations.
  • Collaborate internally with Wolfspeed’s Distribution Team to ensure alignment on market coverage, while maintaining your primary focus on direct strategic accounts.
  • Partner closely with authorized distributors to ensure seamless order fulfillment, accurate forecasting, and inventory availability, guaranteeing a reliable supply chain for our key accounts.
  • Monitor customer satisfaction levels and drive continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen Wolfspeed’s reputation in the industrial market.

Requirements

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or equivalent technical discipline is highly preferred to ensure credibility in technical discussions.
  • Minimum 8-10 years of semiconductor sales experience, with a specific focus on Power Discretes, Power Modules, or Wide Bandgap (SiC/GaN) technologies.
  • Proven track record of selling into the Japanese Industrial, Energy, or Power Supply markets.

Technical & Functional Skills

  • Deep understanding of power electronics applications relevant to I&E (e.g., Inverters, Converters, UPS, PV Inverters).
  • Knowledge of marketing strategies, market research techniques, and sales control systems (e.g., Salesforce).
  • Ability to read and understand datasheets, reliability reports, and application notes to facilitate technical sales conversations.

Behavioral Characteristics

  • Communication: Excellent presentation and written communication skills. Business-level proficiency in Japanese is required; English proficiency is highly desirable for internal global collaboration.
