The PPS Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Unit Manager in the direction of activities related to the completion of the CIIRP (Certified Inpatient Intensive Rehabilitation Program) Unit’s Uniform Data System data management data collection and transmission, while maintaining and protecting the confidentiality of patient information. Assists Nurse Manager in developing, instituting and monitoring policies and procedures within the department relevant to the Prospective Payment System (PPS).

Core Job Responsibilities

Assumes admission liaison’s responsibilities, by acting in the absence of the liaison, to ensure continuation of services within the department.
Assesses the work volume and completion of required screenings/UDS quality measures and required supporting documentation and flow sheets. Performs the quarterly quality assessment studies in each area and reports findings to the CIIRP Nurse Manager. Meets quarterly deadlines for PPS Quality Assurance studies. Prepares PPS statistics on a monthly basis. Collaborates with staff within the CIIRP unit. Resolves problems and expedites workflow.
Provides mentorship, training, and coaching to all staff on the UDS for nursing and therapy flow sheets. Assigns and monitors the completion of annual quality credentialing of CIIRP Unit staff.
Monitors data entry and deadlines for completion of required UDS documentation and audits compliance with required deadlines. Audits and reports. Ensures completion of the UDS and submits transmittals.
Complies with UDSMR required education and skills competencies
Assists Unit Manager in the development of education programs and workflows related to UDS and CARF standards.
Helps reduce staffing expenses through process improvement while continuing to meet customer needs.
Suggests cost savings or revenue generation ideas.
Drafts proposals with recommendations for CIIRP unit.
Uses Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) techniques to identify and solve problems within the IRU.
Ensures employee attendance for PPS/FIM in-services. Develops educational opportunities for employees and encourages/monitors attendance
Performs other clerical duties in the IRU as assigned by the unit manager/designee.

Education/Experience Requirements

REQUIRED:

2-5 years of Nursing, Occupational Therapy or Physical Therapy experience in an inpatient rehabilitation unit or hospital.
Unit specific data submission training and credentialing within 3 months of hire.
Prospective Payment System (PPS) proficiency
Advanced computer skills.

Licensure/Certification Requirements

REQUIRED:

OT, PT or RN degree and licensure required.
