Key Responsibilities:
- Prepares histologic slides from tissue sections for microscopic examination by Pathologist.
- Process and embed specimens
- Perform routine H&E, IHC and special stains.
- Perform and assist with intraoperative consults
- Operates and maintains computerized laboratory equipment.
- Microscopic evaluation of slides to ensure tissue preparation meets laboratory requirements and controls worked accordingly.
- Stay informed of changes in MVHS policies and procedures relevant to your role.
- Engage in continuous learning to maintain required continuing education hours.
What We're Looking For:
- Education: Post-high school course in histotechnology or a two-year degree in a related biological science.
- Experience: Six to twelve months of experience in histotechnology preferred, but we welcome eager learners ready to grow.
- Certification: NYS Histological Technician Certification, NYS Histotechnologist Certification, or NYS Clinical Laboratory Technician Certification required.
