Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Office Manager, the Referral Coordinator receives requests for referrals from various sources and prioritize their completion in a timely manner, to include meeting insurance requirements, scheduling, completing necessary forms, providing appropriate records, communicating appointments and prep to patients.
Core Job Responsibilities
• Receive requests for referrals and prioritize
• Enter order and route to provider for signature – track successful completion
• Determine insurance/worker comp carrier requirements
• Contact specialists/central scheduling to arrange appointments
• Interact with providers to obtain information and clarification on orders
• Run tracking reports and work to resolve issues, to include
• Maintain files for completed referrals/worker compensation cases
• Send reminder letters for annual mammo appointments
• Log out of network referrals
• Maintain working knowledge and obtain updates as necessary of all insurance providers ACP participates with
• Update patient demographics including insurance coverage as necessary and communicate to registration
• Provide backup coverage as assigned
• Interact with providers to obtain information and clarification on orders
• Attend monthly staff and referral meetings
• Perform other duties as required.
Education/Experience Requirements
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1 year Prior medical office experience and knowledge of medical terminology required.
PREFERRED:
- Experience with insurance company rules and regulations
